I carried on researching and did some more observational drawings. I've also
now visited the V&A fashion gallery to see their Regency collection. They
have a really small display of Regency costumes but it was really interesting
to see. The background is painted to look like a landscape from Regency time
and there is a lot of information up about society and fashion. It was really
insightful to be able to see the surface decorations close and it's made me
start to think about the embroidery I will do on my collection.

Regency Observational Drawings
This week I've been concentrating on my sketchbook. In
particular, researching into the Regency period. I really like the layout I've done but I will need to hurry up if I am to finish everything.

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. Illustrations by Sophie Edward
To begin the project I researched my chosen theme, which is
Jane Austen and Regency life. I chose this theme because I have been a
huge fan of Jane Austen’s work since I read her most loved novel, ‘Pride and
Prejudice’. The regency period is also the time I wish I had been born in as I
love the fashion, manners and life in society. Within my chosen theme I decided
to look at how fashion is portrayed in society and how important it was to be
seen wearing the ‘right thing’.
For the front of my sketchbook I made it look like an edition of Pride and Prejudice to make it fit my theme.
I also bought some crafting paper from Paper chase which matches my theme
perfectly. I will be using the one with writing on for all of the research
pages and the shiny one is just going to be for my first page.
