I then went on to the second stage
development to design my four outfits. I really enjoyed this section as it was great to sketch out my ideas on a template as I could get a feel for my collection.

Design Development
I've now begun my design development. Over the next few
weeks I will be concentrating on this so that I can begin to make my
collection. I have started by looking at sections of the outfit, in particular
sleeves and then I've tried to adapt the original empire line silhouette in
order to make it more modem.

Customer Profile Board
Before I begin the design development section
I decided to think about whom the collection will be targeted at and I made a
customer profile board. I've used some of the same pictures as the Moodboard to
make sure they look good together.
My
collection will be an Haute Couture range which will be targeted at women aged
25-35, whom are married to businessmen. They are ladies of leisure who lead a
luxurious lifestyle of going to the theatre, dinner parties, cocktail bars and
exclusive events. The name of the collection, ‘Austentatious’, mirrors their
lifestyle as it’s a play on the work ostentatious. Their spare time is spent
treating their two children, shopping and going to the gym. They like to read
Vogue, Harpers bazaar and of course Jane Austen. The ideal celebrity to wear my
collection would be Keira Knightly due to her etiquette and poise. My brand
will be sold in Harvey Nichols, Liberty’s and Harrods.
With this in mind I now need to think about what they are likely to buy and
what occasions they will go to.Monday, 11 March 2013
Moodboard
Now that I've nearly finished my sketchbook I've made the Moodboard for the
collection. I created the logo for the collection on Photoshop and it's also
the header for this blog. Most of the Moodboard is covered with bold, vibrant
pictures which represents the Indian theme. I have also taken my colour theme
from this so I think it works well to have these colours come through. The
three main colours I will be using in my collection are bottle green, royal
purple and gold. As of now I am unsure of what material I want as I still need
to do my design development stage. I am thinking along the lines of floral
patterns though.
In the Moodboard I've also included some pictures which have a neutral
colour scheme, to bring in the Regency period. I have put in some of my
favourite designs from the Chanel collection but photoshoped heads from Regency
drawings onto the bodies.

Inspired by Viktor & Rolf
Viktor and Rolf was founded in 1993 by Viktor Horsing (1969) and Rolf Shoren
(1969). They met whilst studying fashion design at the Ahmen Academy of Art and
Design in the Netherlands. After graduating they both moved in Paris where they
began their fashion career together. Their first collection, 'hyere', won three
prestigious prizes and in 1998 they showed their first couture range.
I love this 2013 Spring collection from Viktor & Rolf. It's been
influenced be Neoclassicism and the Regency period. Again, like the Chanel
collection, I am inspired by the draping and the free flowing material. I also
like the layering of material of different weights and am going to try some different
designs out which include different fabrics such as chiffons and heavier
cottons.
